WINCHESTER – A home dedication ceremony for Habitat for Humanity’s Seaway Valley’s newest completed build will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28 at 12175 Country Road 3 in Winchester. Proud new home owners are Lisa and Mark Morgan, and their children, Hannah and Kaine.

The land for this build was generously donated by the Township of North Dundas.

The experience of participating in the home-owning program has been life-affirming and life changing, said Lisa, describing the volunteers who helped with the building as “absolutely awesome.” Lisa was an active participant during the construction in North Dundas, learning skills from the other volunteers that she hopes to use as a volunteer herself in future Habitat builds.

Hannah and Kaine couldn’t wait to move into their new home as they wanted to get settled before school starts. Mark works for the accounting department at Frecon, while Lisa is a homemaker, with interests in photography and art. They are both actively involved in the community.

In order to qualify for the program, families must meet selection criteria that include a need for housing, the ability to partner with Habitat, and the means to repay their mortgage. In keeping with the Habitat philosophy of providing a hand-up, rather than a hand-out, the Morgan family completed 500 volunteer hours, which will serve as their down payment.
